3. Lucifer - The Cleansing Hour
It’s not all too frequent that we see the villain win and take over the world. It’s hard to have that large an impact, the world is a big place. However if you’re set on world domination then the obvious place to start is on the internet.
The Cleansing Hour follows an online show that depicts a weekly exorcism. Obviously these exorcisms are all fake, but when a host’s fiance has to step in for that week’s actor things start going wrong.
It becomes clear that she has somehow become possessed for real, and after killing all the crew but the two hosts she makes them spill all their secrets. They admit that the show is fake, that in the past one of them committed a murder, even that they turned a blind eye to known abuse in the Catholic church.
Eventually the demon reveals itself as Lucifer, and uses the stream to possess every viewer currently watching - which at that point is almost twenty million. Around the world the possessed viewers attack mindlessly, and the film closes as the world succumbs to senseless violence.
