10 More Horror Movie Villains Who Encountered Something Worse

1. The Mercenaries - Scarecrows

And we conclude with a bit of a deep cut now, with 1988's slasher film Scarecrows, where five ex-military mercenaries steal three million bucks from Camp Pendleton and hijack a plane in order to escape to Mexico.

But after one of the squad steals the loot and parachutes out, the others are forced to disembark into farmland and track him down.

But they don't merely have a duplicitous former teammate to worry about, because they now find themselves being hunted by a trio of scarecrows who happen to be possessed by the spirits of three dead Satanist farmers. Yes, you read that right.

Even accepting that Scarecrows feels like two separate scripts which got forcibly collided together, it does make for an amusing twist on a more well-trod thriller concept.

You can practically picture a producer telling the filmmakers, "Mercenaries turning on each other? Nah, it's played out. Y'know what this needs? Supernaturally animated scarecrows." And they'd be right.
