10 MORE Horror Movies That Actually Benefitted From Bad Acting

When Paris Hilton was cast in the 2005 House of Wax remake, a collective groan went up from the horror community. Nobody was interested in having the vapid socialite try her hand (and very likely fail) at acting on their time, and yet... Hilton stars alongside One Tree Hill hunk Chad Michael Murray, future demon hunter Jared Padalecki, and Kim Bauer herself, Elisha Cuthbert. And while this cast of TV actors could have spelled disaster for the production, they end up making it.

House of Wax places us in the company of that most classic of modern horror tropes - a group of college chums who wind up off the beaten track with a broken-down car and no means of calling for assistance. The only place open within miles is an old wax museum, and this is where they discover a pair of insane twin brothers desperate to add them to their collection.

It's high concept and plenty of fun, and the shaky performances, not just from Hilton but from all, round out the movie nicely. The girls are in full screaming damsel mode, the bad guys are caricatures, and the men mostly one-note jocks whose laughable "stoicism" sets them up for the highest of falls.
