10 MORE Horror Movies That Tricked You Into Rooting For The Monster
1. Blade II
Blade II basically lures the audience into a false sense of security by making them assume that if it's good enough for Blade (Wesley Snipes), it's surely good enough for them.
The sequel sees the Daywalker reluctantly join forces with vampire overlord Eli Damaskinos (Thomas Kretschmann) to take on the Reapers - a strain of primal mutant vampires who feast on humans and vamps alike.
Now in fairness, Blade is acutely aware that this alliance is short-lived and prone to implode - in his own words, "They're gonna f**k us the first chance they get" - but all the same, for as long as they can serve a purpose to Blade and the other heroes, we too can kinda-sorta get onboard with them. If nothing else, it's a novel twist for a sequel.
Yet of course, by the third act, Damaskinos betrays Blade, where it's revealed that he was actually the cause of the Reaper outbreak all along.
While Blade's and our own mental truce with the vampires was always a tentative one, Damaskinos really couldn't resist but go full a**hole, could he?
