May is a horror drama revolving around a woman who suffers anxiety because of her lazy eye. Recognising her insecurities, her mother gifted May with a doll called Suzy, instilling with her the mentality, "If you can't find a friend, make one."

Unfortunately, May took this philosophy too literally. Tired of being an outcast, May begins chopping people up and uses their parts to create a Frankenstein-like Suzy, in a vain attempt to bring her only friend to life.

When you condense May's actions, it's easy to label her as crazy. However, May's spiral into madness was triggered by false hope, not evil. May absolutely believed all her problems were tied to her lazy eye. So, when she had it corrected, she assumed her life would be perfect. At first, everything seemed to work out for May after she had the operation since she immediately got a boyfriend and became intimate with her friend. But when she was dumped and her friend stopped talking to her, May felt more alone than ever.

When you see May give up her own eye to complete her "Suzy" in the conclusion, you realise her actions weren't spurred by malice but a desire to feel loved.
