Whenever any legacy sequel is released, there is always a certain expectation of ties to the original. Whether it's plot threads or cameo appearances, either announced or surprise, there is usually a callback or two to the original. If you're going to exploit nostalgia, you might as well exploit it properly.

1996's Space Jam has become something of an iconic movie, and after a number of failed attempts, a sequel with LeBron James released in 2021. Obviously, the likes of Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes would return, but what about Michael Jordan himself?

A cameo would have been on people's minds from the very beginning, with such rumours fueled by Don Cheadle 'confirming' the GOAT's return to the franchise. However, His Airness made no appearance in the sequel, and it soon became clear exactly what the MCU star meant when he said Jordan would return "but not in the way you would expect."

Instead of the Chicago Bulls star showing up, Michael B. Jordan made a cameo as Sylvester mistook him for "Michael A. Jordan". Arguably this scene was funnier than any return from the original Jordan ever would have been.
