Keeping with those completely unplanned moments that ultimately found a way to slip into the finished article and provoke laughter in theatres all over the world in the process, it turns out that fans weren't the only ones caught off-guard by Robin Williams' hilarious tumble at one specific point in 1996 comedy The Birdcage.

According to Hank Azaria, playing housekeeper Agador in the flick, the chaotic dinner scene that sees Williams' Armand Goldman losing his cool in the kitchen over the lack of entrée and shrimp involved a slip from the iconic comedy star that left both stars genuinely chuckling mid-scene.

If you look closely you'll spot Azaria in particular struggling to hold it together as Williams wipes out, with the star eventually noting to The A.V. Club (via SlashFilm):

"That was absolutely not intentional. And if you watch that little piece of film again, you'll see me laughing and Robin laughing."

Ever the (sort of) pros, Williams and Azaria refused to drop the scene, however, and what ensued was the sort of inspired improvisation the two made careers out of, with the latter noticeably using his emotional state as a way of semi-masking being genuinely tickled by Robin's unexpected roll.
