5. Aamir Barkawi - London Has Fallen

Watchmen Matthew Goode
Millennium Entertainment

London Has Fallen's primary antagonist is Aamir Barkawi (Alon Moni Aboutboul), a Pakistani arms trafficker and terrorist who swears vengeance on the G7 - the collective consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US - for authorising a drone strike at his daughter's wedding which kills his family, including said daughter.

Barkawi's plan? Poisoning the British Prime Minister, in turn luring all of the G7 leaders to London for his funeral, where he plans to take them out in a series of co-ordinated attacks.

And Barkawi gets the bulk of the job done. Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan all lose their heads of state, leaving only new British PM Leighton Clarkson (Clarkson Guy Williams) and US President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) alive by film's end.

Sure, Barkawi is himself killed by a US drone strike in the climax, but before dying he kills six major world leaders, obliterates London, irreparably damages iconic landmarks, and kills untold numbers of police officers and innocent civilians.

The US typically spins Barkawi's demise as a victory, but on the balance of carnage, is it really? He extracted a massive pound of flesh for his murdered family.
