10 More Movies & TV Shows You Can No Longer Watch

9. The Abyss

At the very top of most Blu-ray collectors' wishlists is James Cameron's sci-fi classic The Abyss, which despite being a notable feature film from one of the most successful filmmakers of all time remains trapped on DVD.

More to the point, said DVD was released way back in November 2000 and is now long out of print, while an expected Blu-ray release was reportedly held up by disagreements between Cameron and Fox's home video division.

At present your only above-board way to watch the movie is sourcing a second-hand DVD, as it's also not available anywhere on streaming despite considerable fan demand.

However, things are looking up, with Cameron's recent announcement that The Abyss' long-completed 4K transfer is getting a one-night-only theatrical release on December 6th, almost certainly ensuring that the film will hit 4K Blu-ray sometime in 2024.

That such a mesmerising and much-loved movie - despite its initial lack of commercial success - has been so hard to watch for so long is an utter travesty, and one that'll seemingly be rectified in the near-future.
