10 More Movies & TV Shows You Can No Longer Watch

6. The Brave Little Toaster

The audience for family-friendly movies - especially animation - is large enough that rights-holders almost always ensure they've got a home, yet there are exceptions, like 1987's cult classic The Brave Little Toaster.

The indie animated musical became popular throughout the 1990s as a result of prolific TV airings and a VHS release, and though the film did make the leap to DVD in 2003, that's where the trail went cold.

Despite its two sequels, The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue and The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars, both being available on Disney+, the decidedly more beloved original is not.

This may be due to the fact that only the sequels were originally distributed by Walt Disney Home Video, whereas releasing the original on Disney+ or Blu-ray would force Disney to come to a new agreement with original production company and distributor Hyperion Pictures.

All the same, it's easy to see how a streaming release in particular could unlock The Brave Little Toaster for a whole new generation of audiences, because despite its rough edges due to its low budget, it's a supremely charming piece of work.
