Say what you want about The Phantom Menace's frankly boring obsession with intergalactic bureaucracy, but it at least established a link between two of the most beloved sci-fi universes ever created.

During the hearing scene at the Galactic Senate, when Queen Amidala announces her no confidence vote in Chancellor Valorum and proposes a vote for a new chancellor, we get to see the reactions of the other representatives. And in there are three delegates from E.T.'s home planet Brodo Asogi, confirming they're in the same universe.

Confusingly though, E.T. has its own Star Wars Easter Egg, where a child appears dressed as Yoda on Halloween, as Lucas and Spielberg promised one another nods in their movies.
