Kevin Smith's comedy creations Jay and Silent Bob have appeared in a significant number of movies thanks to Smith's shared View Askew universe, usually as stoner comedy relief.

They also once broke out of that universe entirely for a cameo appearance that tied Kevin Smith's work to Wes Craven's. They turn up in Scream 3 on a studio tour on the set of film-within-a-film Stab 3. They greet Courtney Cox's Gale Weathers - mistaking her for Connie Chung - only for her to flip them off.

Confusingly, even though Jay and Silent Bob appear in the Scream universe, they also rescue their orangutan friend Suzanne from the set of a fictional Scream 4 in Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back. All terribly confusing.
