Despite how they're depicted in pop-culture, genies aren't always friendly.

And no film encapsulates the dangers of these enchanting entities more than Wishmaster. In the Wes Craven-produced flick, an appraiser called Alexandra Amberson accidentally awakens a sinister Djinn, who intends to unleash his demonic brethren on the world. But in order for this invasion to occur, he must grant Alexandra three wishes, since she's the one who summoned him.

Unfortunately, the nasty demon has a habit of twisting the wording of his hosts. When a guard says, "I'd like to see you go through me," the wish-fulfilling being does exactly that, shattering the poor chap to pieces. When a doorman says he'd like to escape from his dull job, the genie places him inside an escape artist trap, drowning him.

Despite his reality-warping abilities, the Djinn is harmless so long as nobody interacts with him. But if somebody says any variation of "I wish" in his vicinity, the meanie genie will grant their desires, often with calamitous results.

Worst of all, the only way to defeat the Djinn is to wish him away. But if the wish isn't phrased perfectly, it could make the situation significantly worse.
