9. Joel Leaves Town - Scream (1996)
Joel, the fresh-faced professional cameraman in Scream 2, makes a smart move by leaving town after sensing danger. He is clearly a better decision-maker than his predecessor from the original Scream movie, Kenny Jones.
After he was assigned as Gale Weathers' new cameraman at Windsor College, Joel became increasingly weary of her need to follow the trail of the killer. He read her book and realized the danger he was in after learning about what happened to her original cameraman. It's a good thing Joel wasn't too proud to admit his mistake of not reading the book before taking the job. That decision probably saved his life.
Joel's decision to leave town was a wise one. After Randy, one of his closest friends on campus, was killed, Joel knew he had to act fast. He returned briefly to film Gale's exclusive account, but wisely left after she and Dewey decided to leave the college.
