Say what you will about Terminator Salvation's story and character work (or any Terminator film post-T2: Judgement Day), but the 2009 reboot/sequel had pretty solid visual effects. McG's much-maligned Terminator film features a variety of well-forged killing machines and the attempts to integrate them with more tactile, practical creations are admirable.

All this said, what was clearly intended to be the film's standout VFX shot ended up being a terrible misfire. While Marcus (Sam Worthington) and John Connor (Christian Bale) rescue Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) and Star (Jadagrace Berry) from a Skynet facility, they are ambushed by a T-800 bearing the likeness of a young Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Creating digital humans, whether fully or partially, will always be a challenge, and Terminator Salvation unfortunately did not succeed in this regard.

This T-800 is undeniably an imposing physical specimen in the same vein of a Schwarzenegger in his prime, but the efforts done to create the likeness to the Austrian Oak do not match the rest of the film's solid imagery.
