10 More Terrible Movies That Killed Awesome Franchises

4. Superman IV: The Quest For Peace

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace Long before the God awful Superman Returns came the 1987 (bad year for franchises) opus Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Sadly this was Christopher Reeve's last run as the Man of Steel and even he wished this movie had never ever seen the light of day describing it as "a catastrophe from start to finish". Instead of the Superman Reborn idea in which Reeve would battle Brainiac the studio opted to make this cheap ($17 million budget) and nasty farce that sees DC's favourite alien hero battle the completely ridiculous Nuclear Man who has become a long running joke in the history of comic book cinema. The series laid dormant after this for almost 20 years but even after such a prolonged absence the series failed to be reignited, fans had just lost all faith in the Kryptonian hero. That was until Man of Steele smashed its way into cinemas of course and wiped fans memories of all the bad that had come before.
