10 More Upcoming Movies That Are Already Doomed

5. Kick-Ass Reboot Trilogy

Late last year, Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn revealed that he's mounting a reboot of the R-rated superhero franchise - or to be precise, an entire new trilogy of related movies.

Vaughn added that these films would center around entirely new characters, rather than reunite audiences with Dave (Aaron Johnson) and Mindy (ChloĆ« Grace Moretz) from the first two movies. Since then, he's confirmed that the trilogy will kick off with the already-filmed School Fight, directed by his long-time stunt coordinator Damien Walters, while the two following movies have the working titles Vram and Kick-Ass.

Except, Vaughn is making quite the assumption here of the audience's appetite for more Kick-Ass. Most fans loathed Kick-Ass 2, which Vaughn didn't direct, and given that more than a decade has passed since that sequel came and went, is there still an audience around for this type of movie?

What felt fresh in 2010 may seem more passe in 2024, especially as Deadpool has made boundary-pushing R-rated superhero fare totally mainstream. Plus, accepting Vaughn's wonky filmmaking track record in recent years, his involvement isn't the stamp of assurance it once was.
