What could have been. One of Batmans most iconic foes and one that pushes the boundaries of his detective status was lined up to take him on but very little of that came through in the film. Gone was the cerebral manipulator from the comics, replaced with a Joker wannabe in the most over-the-top performance imaginable from the king of hyperacting, Jim Carrey. His voice would seem to randomly go into bouts of screaming for no real purpose, his delivery was all over the place and the character felt like Ace Ventura on steroids. This was not the Edward Nygma that we knew, and he was replaced with someone that no one wanted to see. To top things off, his entire plan revolved around The Box, a type of TV beamed right into the brain. It was all just too much. From Carreys melodramatic performance to the characters obnoxious demeanour, its hard to watch as such an incredible character is turned into this. Could you stand any of these characters? Which Batman characters did you find insufferable? Let us know in the comments.
