1. Candyman

Candyman has world-class talent involved, and is a remake of the much loved Bernard Rose directed 1992 original. So, naturally expectations for this horror release are high.

The film is co-wrote and directed by Nia DaCosta, who is known for her directorial debut Little Woods, and the upcoming Captain Marvel 2. Jordan Peele produced and co-wrote with DaCosta, and is most known for Get Out, a movie that serves as a commentary on race politics in North America as much as it does a horror film.

Rose's original Candyman was praised for doing the same, though not to the extent of Get Out, so it will be fascinating to see where DaCosta and Peele take a Candyman story set in modern New York City.

Aquaman and Watchmen star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars alongside Madmen and recent Wandavision alum, Teyonah Parris. The film's antagonist, the Candyman, will still be portrayed by Tony Todd, who reprises his eerie role from the original.

Will there be another nightmare-inducing bee scene in the remake? We can only sweat in anticipation until August 27.
