3. The Conjuring 3
The Conjuring seems to have devolved a little since its badass original outing way back in 2013, with spin-offs and spin-offs of spin-offs, and so on and so forth, continually diluting what at its heart is a truly terrifying, exciting brand. With so many Annabelles and Nuns and La Llorona's floating about, it can be hard to remember that the mainline Conjuring universe is a narratively solid one and not just built for profit, which is what this third entry should hopefully remind us of.
Returning to what it does best, The Conjuring 3 will feature good old Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren once more, investigating a man on trial for murder who claims the whole thing is due to a mix up with a demon taking control of him. Ah, of course, the devil made him do it.
And I don't say that phrase lightly, since The Conjuring 3's sub title is exactly that: 'The Devil Made Me Do It.' This indicates the real life case of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, a young man who murdered his landlord and claimed possession as the reason, to be the inspiration. Either way, we'll know for certain by 11 September 2020.
