10 Most Anticipated Horror Movies Still To Come In 2023
3. The Last Voyage Of The Demeter
Dracula adaptations have been done to death. (Seriously, Renfield just came out.) Even though the Prince of Darkness is a cinematic icon, he doesn't have the same sway he once did. The Transylvanian count has been so oversaturated over the years, he's seen as a parody of his former self.
However, The Last Voyage of Demeter looks like it could be the best Dracula movie in decades. The film explores Drac’s journey to England, which is detailed in a single chapter of Bram Stoker’s novel. The king of vampires places himself in a cargo box in Carpathia, which is transported onto a schooner called the Demeter. As the ship sets sail, Dracula starts feeling a bit peckish, compelling him to pick off the crew one-by-one.
This premise is as ingenious as it is terrifying. Not only do Dracula's victims have nowhere to run, we know these characters are canonically doomed from the start, since they die in the source material.
After the release of the haunting trailer, it looks like The Last Voyage of the Demeter might pull off the impossible and make Dracula scary again.
