10 Most Anticipated Movie Scenes Of All Time
8. Kirk Meets Picard - Star Trek Generations
Star Trek Generations was sold entirely off the irresistible, shamelessly fan-serving premise that'd it finally unite the old and new eras of Trek by teaming Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) with Captain Kirk (William Shatner).
It was a dream scenario for even the most casual Trek fan, and so they filled out the multiplexes to finally see the series' two most celebrated heroes join forces for a new adventure. Except, Generations isn't really about the Kirk/Picard team-up, which ends up comprising a relatively brief 20-minute sliver of the movie, consists largely of the two exchanging unremarkable banter, and culminates in Kirk's maddeningly anti-climactic death-by-scaffold.
Though the promise of this meeting made it one of the most anticipated scenes in the history of sci-fi cinema, it's also one of the all-time most flagrant examples of a massively hyped moment that fell outrageously short of the mark.
That anyone involved thought this was interesting or even basically entertaining enough is totally baffling.
