10 Most Anticipated Movie Scenes Of All Time

7. The White House's Destruction - Independence Day

While moviegoers regularly ding marketing for revealing way too much in advance, it's tough to blame Fox for showing one of the all-time great cinematic money shots in the trailers for Independence Day.

The film's most memorable image is unquestionably that of the White House being obliterated by an alien spaceship - a visual so conceptually insane and striking that it alone is likely responsible for a huge chunk of the film's $817.4 million global box office haul.

There was a certain genius behind including the shot in the trailers, really, because while it seems like a huge spoiler on paper, we don't know the precise context behind the explosion - namely, who is inside the White House at the time or what the hell happens next.

To call the scene "absolutely freaking sick" is putting it mildly, and better yet, the final version of the White House explosion is even better than in the trailer, as a helicopter is added to the foreground of the shot which swiftly gets vaporised.
