Brightburn imagines a what would be a Superman origin story by any other name with one key element shifted. After a boy crash lands to earth, seemingly answering a couple's wishes for a child they couldn't conceive, he grows up as part of our society slowly uncovering his alien heritage and superpower abilities. Instead of using them for good as his parents wish though, Brandon has a taste for all things sinister, unleashing a force of destruction like earth has never seen.
It's literally a Superman horror story. I don't know how much more perfectly to sell that to you than that.
