10 Most Anxiety-Inducing Movie Scenes EVER

2. The Killing Of A Sacred Deer - Shotgun Roulette

Prometheus C Section Scene

Even if you know this is coming by the end of The Killing of a Sacred Deer, watching it unfold brings about that sick, eye-scrunching terror that's born from incredibly well-executed tension. The film sees a strange young boy, Martin, with a connection to cardiothoracic surgeon Steven, that is slowly revealed throughout the film's runtime. An eye for an eye is the central premise of his appearance, forcing Steven to make choices that no father, husband, or family-man would want to make in their life.

Martin wants Steven to choose a member of his family to die as penance for his own father's death under Steven's surgical care. Of course, this is no easy decision for Steven, who instead of making a single choice outright to save his whole family from dying, decides the only fair way to pick is to blindfold himself and spin around with a shotgun until fate decides for him. Grim.

Watching him flail frantically with a hat over his face has that kind of strange, maniacal horror to it that's hard to accurately describe. It's just not a scene you'd want to ever choose to endure again.
