10 Most Badass Movie Death Scenes Of All Time
7. "This Is From Matilda" - Leon: The Professional
There's very little about The Professional that isn't badass, whether it be Natalie Portman's stellar breakthrough performance or Gary Oldman's inimitably psychotic bad guy. It's all glorious. And so it's only right that the movie ends on an appropriately badass note.
Professional hitman Léon has spent the entire film as 12-year-old Matilda's protector. He not only takes her in following the gruesome murder of her parents - by none other than Stansfield, the mentally unhinged DEA Agent Oldman plays - but also rescues her thrice more. He teaches her to protect herself, as well, so she's not always reliant on him.
That last part becomes especially important after Léon comes to Matilda's rescue for the third and final time, as he's swiftly shot and killed by Stansfield shortly thereafter.
But with his last breath, Léon gives his "adopted daughter" one last gift. As Stansfield stands over the dying hitman, Léon beckons him closer. He puts something in Stansfield's hand, then whispers, "This is from... Matilda."
Stansfield unclenches his hand to see a grenade pin. And wouldn't ya know it, stuffed into Léon's vest is a whole bundle of grenades. In a triumphant cloud of kabooms, the bad guy finally gets his due.
