10 Most Boring Blockbusters Of All Time

6. John Carter

Man Of Steel Behind The Scene
Disney

Edgar Rice Burroughs’ character had plenty of potential to inspire a megabucks franchise, but this $250 million adaptation is so choppily edited, with most shots lasting no longer than 2 seconds, that the whole movie goes by in a blur.

The film’s post-production woes are not the extent of its problems, however: of the cast, only Mark Strong makes an impression as the villainous Matai Shang (who wants something for some reason or other) while everyone else seems content to stand around the expensive sets looking solemn. The dialogue lands with a thud too and you’re unlikely to get caught up in a story that shifts from one locale to another so abruptly.

With its franchise potential and Avatar-like aliens, John Carter must’ve looked like a great “package” to someone in Hollywood, but the end result keeps the audience at arm’s length throughout. Playing more like a 2 hour trailer, the movie promises great things but doesn’t deliver.
