10 Most Boring Blockbusters Of All Time

7. Man Of Steel

Man Of Steel Behind The Scene
Warner Bros. Pictures

If you show Richard Donner’s Superman to a 5 year-old boy, give him a six-pack of Red Bull and ask him to recite the plot, you’ve got Man Of Steel. It’s little more than a thunderous facsimile of Donner’s film, with the human element replaced by dull spectacle.

Consider the way each movie deals with the Pa Kent character, who in Donner’s film is played by Glenn Ford and felled by a heart attack. That’s not big enough for Man Of Steel, which casts Oscar winner Kevin Costner in the role and has him meet his maker during a huge special effects sequence. Before he kicks it, though, he gives Clark (and the audience) one of those stoic glances that lets you know he’s about to die heroically.

Simple is never good enough for Zack Snyder’s film, which hits you in the face with a sledgehammer during the opening Krypton sequence then proceeds to pummel you for another two hours before leading up to more noisy destruction.

Which is quite dull, to be honest.
