10 Most Brutal Deaths In Harry Potter Movies

1. Neck Slashed And Attacked By Nagini (Severus Snape)

It's crazy that a character who most people hated for the duration of the series actually ended up getting one of the most poignant send-offs in it.

Despite treating Harry like dirt for the entirety of his school years, Snape's heroic "coming out" at the end of the Potter saga was handled so brilliantly that he instantly became one of the most beloved characters the wizarding world has ever produced.

We all wanted to see him get his moment in the sun once Voldemort had been defeated, and for the many witches and wizards who had hated him for so many years to finally learn that he had been fighting the good fight all along. And so, when he was killed in such a painful and gory fashion, it stung like a bee.

Believing that killing Snape will grant him full control over the powerful Elder Wand, Voldemort slaughtered his most "loyal" servant in an unnecessarily brutal way: he slashed his neck with a flick of his wand, before commanding Nagini to finish the job - as though gouging someone's neck open wouldn't be enough to end them on its own.

Just one of these murderous acts would've been highly cruel in its own right, but put the two together and you've got a downright vicious and barbaric death for someone who truly didn't deserve it.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
