10 Most Brutal Star Wars Movie Deaths

8. The Jedi During Order 66 (Revenge Of The Sith)

Cause Of Death: Various

Does it get any more brutal than having your back stabbed? Well, since this isn't at number one, then yes. But it's still a pretty harsh way to go out regardless; murdered by people you presumed were on your side, leaving you defenceless, helpless and completely hopeless.

Order 66 is the name of the event that took place during the final few days of the Clone Wars. Issued by Emperor Palpatine during Episode III, it resulted in the deaths of most of the Jedi at the hands of the Clone Troopers, who turned on people like Aayla Secura, Plo Koon and Ki-Adi-Mundi, murdering them in cold blood.

While these kills aren't as physically brutal as some of the others on this list, the ramifications they have for the future of the galaxy make them arguably the most devastating deaths in the entire saga. With most Jedi gone and the rest in hiding, the Empire is able to rise to power, constructing the Death Star and leading to the events of the original trilogy.

Plus, the on-screen deaths we're shown are only a fraction of the total bloodshed; thousands of Jedi were killed within minutes, each one of them destroyed by an enemy they thought was their friend - and, while watching, you'll feel just as crushed as they must've felt in their final few moments.
