10 Most Controversial Batman Movie Moments

3. Bat-Murderer - Batman V. Superman

Hardly even a year after Nolan wrapped up his Dark Knight trilogy, DC and Warner Bros. saw fit to reboot the character once more so as to include him in their ambitious DC Extended Universe, beginning with a role in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Batman v. Superman as a whole was one of the most controversial films of the last decade. And Batman was a huge part of it, but strangely not for the reasons many initially thought. When it was first announced that Ben Affleck would be taking on the role, many were quick to deride the choice. But in the finished film, Affleck's performance is relatively solid.

Instead, its the writing and creative choices that were so controversial, in that Batman is a cold-blooded murderer in this film. And sure, he had killed people before, but there had always been at least an air of pretense that he wasn't actively looking to murder them, ala the Joker in Batman '89. But here, he's straight-up killing dudes left and right without a care in the world.

This uncharacteristically dark take on the character did not sit well with a lot of fans and brought the film a ton of unwanted backlash.
