10 Most Controversial Batman Movie Moments

4. Talia Al Ghul's Death - The Dark Knight Rises

Batman Forever
Warner Bros.

Admittedly, the third act of The Dark Knight Rises has some rough patches.

The reveal that Bane is just an underling of Talia al Ghul doesn't quite work and neither does Bane's anti-climactic death. Even the Batman death fakeout and subsequent revelation that he lived and ran away with Selena Kyler is a bit off.

But easily the worst part of The Dark Knight Rises' third act is Talia al Ghul's death. After being stopped by Batman, Catwoman, and Gordon, Talia delivers a monologue about how the atomic bomb can't be stopped. She then very suddenly just dies immediately after.

It is an incredibly strange scene and one of the most widely mocked in the franchise's history. It is so controversial that even Talia al Ghul actress Marion Cotillard has spoken out about how much she hates the scene, saying;

'Why? Why did they keep that take?"

The world may never know, Ms. Cotillard.
