10 Most Controversial Horror Movie Moments
4. The Birth - The Human Centipede II
The Human Centipede centres around a maniacal doctor who surgically connects three victims mouth-to-ass for... reasons. With a premise like that, it's obvious the film was created for the sole purpose of being shocking.
But when director, Tom Six, made the sequel, he went above and beyond to make it as controversial as possible. The story focuses on a toll booth guard called Martin Lomax who's become so obsessed with The Human Centipede film, he prepares to create his own.
It's clear Six wanted to outdo his predecessor since this follow-up has scenes of Martin masturbating with sandpaper, caving in his victims kneecaps, and wrapping barbed wire around his genitals before raping a woman.
As horrific as these scenes are, the worst is saved for last. One of Martin's human centipede victims, a pregnant woman called Rachel, escapes from her confinement and runs to her car. As she's about to start the vehicle, she goes into labour and her baby drops onto the ground, falling behind the pedals.
Panicked, Rachel puts her foot on the accelerator, crushing the newborn's skull. Surprisingly, the most disturbing moment in the entire trilogy has absolutely nothing to do with the human centipede itself.
