10 Most Creative Movie Trailers Ever Made
9. Austin Powers 2's Star Wars Parody
When Mike Myers was gearing up to reprise his dual roles as Austin Powers and Dr. Evil in The Spy Who Shagged Me, he went all-out on the promotion front.
For the sequel's teaser trailer, the Wayne's World star donned his Dr. Evil costume to take part in a fully-fledged Star Wars parody.
The trailer, which was set against the sound of heavy breathing, was designed to lure the audience into thinking they were watching footage from a new chapter in the space opera before Dr. Evil shattered the illusion. You were expecting somebody else?
The teaser also deserves bonus points for the tagline "If you see one movie this summer, see Star Wars..." No film was going to compete with The Phantom Menace that summer (from a purely box office standpoint), so they may as well have joked about it.
