8. Spider-Man Catches A Chopper In His Web
It's rare to see a trailer which showcases such little footage from the actual film, but when Sam Raimi used one of the original Spider-Man's teasers as an opportunity to tell a self-contained short story, it was refreshing.
This preview depicted a bank robbery in New York City in which the criminals nicked some cash before attempting to make their escape by helicopter, a plan which soon comes to a sticky end.
The camera panned back to reveal the chopper caught in a giant web between the former World Trade Centre's Twin Towers, before an overly-CGI Spidey swung into action. It then cut to J. Jonah Jameson's famous "he's a menace" rant, just to include some actual footage from the movie.
The Twin Towers teaser would have been a fantastic way to promote Spider-Man without giving anything about the movie's plot away, but when 9/11 happened, Sony pulled the footage as a mark of respect to those affected by the tragedy.
