10 Most Criminally Underrated British Horror Movies

1. Ghost Stories

Based originally on a stage play, Ghost Stories was released this year to a seemingly limited audience, and subsequently left out of the conversation ever since. Intertwining three seemingly separate tales into one central thread, Ghost Stories breathes life into the anthology format across multiple paranormal encounters relayed to a renowned skeptic. Intent on debunking these stories, Professor Phillip Goodman won't stop until he finds out the truth - but as with any horror film, it's of course more than he bargained for.

Don't go messing with the spooky, and the spooky won't mess with you.

Ghost Stories expertly moves across the country to tell its narrative, depicting typical British glumness in all its gritty glory. From forgotten caravans to dingy pubs, it feels as much a haunting of culture as it does representative of supernatural apparitions, and is all the more effective for it.

Criminally left to the wayside - Ghost Stories has the production value and mystique of much more well-received films, but has patiently sat by as bigger names take the spotlight. A cult hit waiting in the wings.
