10 Most Cringe-Worthy Oscar Moments

9. A Streaker Hits The Stage

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IIl3zSYL8k Photographer and art gallery owner Robert Opel entered the annals of Oscar history by streaking across the stage during 1974's Academy Awards, having snuck backstage posing as a journalist earlier in the evening. As presenter David Niven was about to introduce Elizabeth Taylor, Opel runs across the stage, gesticulating a peace sign, much to the uproarious amusement of the Oscar crowd. Niven, ever quick on his feet, promptly retorts, "Well, ladies and gentlemen, that was almost bound to happen...but isn't it fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off and showing his shortcomings?". Rumours have persisted every since that the entire stunt was organised by the Oscar's producers, yet whether planned or not, it's a refreshingly batty moment of Oscar history.
