6. "I'm The King Of The World!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJp7Wd6Af2A James Cameron already had a reputation for being a dictatorial, ego-maniacal director prior to his 1998 Best Director win for Titanic, though to be fair, he does get some pretty excellent results. However, he did little to foster his reputation by ending his Oscar acceptance speech with the exclaimation, "I'm the King of the world!", a cheese-encrusted quote from the very same film. Perhaps this moment might have been slightly more bearable if Cameron's delivery wasn't so disingenuous and egotistical; it felt like he actually believed it rather than was just facetiously mimicking a line from the film. Granted, if anyone in Hollywood has good reason to be an ego-maniac, it's probably James Cameron, but behaviour like this isn't actually a way to ingratiate yourself with people or shed an infamous image. Can you imagine if he'd won Best Director for Avatar? His entire acceptance speech would probably have been in Na'vi.
