7. Best Picture Is Announced 20 Minutes Too Early
Though Jerry Lewis gets most of the flak for the infamous 1958 Oscar ceremony, it wasn't really his fault, but more that of the producers, who began frantically cutting song and dance numbers from the running order to ensure that the broadcast came in on time, only to end up having the Best Picture award be announced a whole 20 minutes early. As such, Lewis had to fill the remaining time as best he could, something that ranges from initially charming to soul-crushingly desperate by the time the broadcast reaches its end. Lewis starts out by getting the audience to sing along with him in a rendition of "Theres No Business Like Show Business", and then a dance routine, and then some wise-cracks, and more of the same until the Oscar producers can't stand to watch Lewis hopelessly flail around on stage any longer and cut to a re-run of a sports show.
