10 Most Cringeworthy Onscreen Kisses In The History Of Movies

3. Demi Moore And Patrick Swayze - Ghost

Back To The Future Kiss
Paramount Pictures

Don't get me wrong, this is a very touching scene. In fact, even the most cold-hearted of men will have to fight back that lone tear forming in the corner of their eye when Molly is finally able to see and hear her late husband Sam for the first time since his death. Especially when you realize it's the instrumental version of "Unchained Melody" playing in the background!

But holy hell is that CGI-infused, halo-riddled kiss as awkward as it gets.

Setting aside the logistics of the whole thing - as the filmmakers surely hoped we would - it looks about as comfortable for the actors as touching your hand to a burning stove.

Once they finally "lock" lips, there's absolutely no additional movement involved. They just kinda...touch noses. And then...stop breathing? It's strange.

Again, this has a lot to do with the fact that there's some complicated post sequencing happening, but the real world rationale doesn't make it any less unnerving to watch.

And not to nitpick here, but where in the hell do Swayze's lips go once they start their little peck? They disappear right off his face thanks to that obnoxious halo, which adds an unfortunate level of eerieness to it all.
