10 Most Cringeworthy Onscreen Kisses In The History Of Movies

2. Michael J. Fox And Lea Thompson - Back To The Future

Back To The Future Kiss
Universal Pictures

Lea Thompson's had her fair share of disturbing onscreen lip locks - Howard the Duck, anyone? - but none will ever achieve the number of cringes and dry-heaves that this bit of time-traveling incest gave the world in 1985. (Or is it 1955?)

There are plenty of uncomfortable moments involving Marty McFly and his young mother, and unfortunately, it all culminates with the two of them parking, which is old-timey slang for "getting ready to bump uglies". As soon as Mrs. McFly lunges toward her son for the kiss, the shocked and horrified look on the boy she knows as Calvin's face becomes an exact representation of the audience's trauma.

"Wait...why is she...? No, don't. Don't. Please stop. Please God no why are you doing this to us??" - Every single person watching this scene for the first time.

And Thompson's nearly spot-on response - "It's like I'm kissing my brother" - does little to negate the immediate need to douse your eyes with hand sanitizer. Sorry Zemeckis, but calling attention to the unwanted Oedipal love does not make up for the fact that it happened in the first place.
