10 Most Disappointing Action Movie Sequels Ever

1. Speed 2: Cruise Control

Taken 3
20th Century Fox

Anybody who claims that Speed isn't one of the greatest action movies ever made is a liar, and anybody who tries to persuade you that the sequel isn't as bad as its reputation suggests definitely falls under the same category.

Director Jan De Bont had a recurring nightmare about a cruise ship crashing into an island, and decided to build an entire movie around what he had witnessed in his dreams. While some great movies like The Terminator were born from fever dreams, Speed 2 only turned out to be a nightmare for anyone who had to sit through it.

De Bont spent $25m recreating what he envisioned in his sleep, and seemed to forget about everything else involved in the buildup, most notably the decision to set a movie with the word 'Speed' in the title on one of the slowest-moving forms of transport available.

Speed wasn't exactly the most logical project to come out of Hollywood, but it looked like a work of genius compared to Cruise Control, which was about as banal and tedious as blockbuster filmmaking can get.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
