10 Most Disappointing Harry Potter Movie Moments

3. The Department Of Mysteries – The Order Of The Phoenix

Similarly, the finale of The Order of the Phoenix is also disappointing. Harry and the other DA members simply arrive at the Department of Mysteries then make their way to the Hall of Prophecy without any difficulty.

As well as being rather dull, it doesn’t make sense. The Department of Mysteries is supposed to be a secret location full of strange and unusual magic experimentation. In the book, the place feels like a labyrinth. Harry and his friends struggle to find the Hall of Prophecy and stumble across plenty of other rooms in their quest to find it. They discover brains in tanks, a large crystal bell jar that contains time, and a room full of floating planets.

Whereas in the movie, this sense of scale never comes to fruition, and the only part of the Department of Mysteries that gets any attention is the Hall of Prophecy and the archway room.

Given the short runtime of The Order of the Phoenix, there’s really no excuse for not adapting the Department of Mysteries more faithfully.
