10 Most Disappointing Harry Potter Movie Moments

4. The Third Task – The Goblet Of Fire

‘The Third Task’ is one of the longest chapters in The Goblet of Fire. As well as competing against the other champions, Harry has to tackle a Boggart, a sphinx, gravity-defying mist, a Blast-Ended Skrewt, and even a giant spider. He sustains multiple injuries along the way and would have been eaten alive if it wasn’t for Cedric’s help.

The on-screen version of the final task in the Triwizard Tournament is strange, to say the least. There are no creatures roaming around the maze, and Harry simply wonders around in search of the cup. The maze itself is the main obstacle – hedges swarm about at random and the vines attempt to trip and then capture the fallen champions. It’s an interesting idea, but one that ultimately fails to match the quality of the original task.

Why the filmmakers chose to oversimplify this scene will always remain a mystery. Whilst the atmosphere is pretty creepy, the maze is incredibly basic when compared to the book.
