10 Most Disappointing Horror Movie Remakes

9. The Hitcher (2007)

Carrie Remake
Platinum Dunes

Who would have thought that having Sean Bean would take the kill or be killed mantra this seriously? Instead of serving his purpose as the disposable dead character halfway into the movie, he finally takes the murderous tendencies into his own hands - terrorising drivers as a psychopathic hitchhiker for no good reason other than to see if anyone can stop him.

Where the first movie succeeded as a little 80s action horror that just wanted to have a good time, 2007s version takes itself far too seriously. It's no surprise since it was released by the god awful production company Platinum Dunes, aka Michael Bay's house where rehashed horror movies go to die, but even this was remarkably unimpressive. Formulaic, derivative, and just wholly unnecessary, not even the 'big torn apart by trucks' scene could save this movie from itself.

I guess that's what happens when you turn to classic movies to hitch your free ride.
