5. Insidious: Chapter 3
Like the Paranormal Activity franchise, Insidiouss 3rd instalment backtracks in an attempt to pencil in the backstory for a main character, and once again proves it wasnt worth the effort. Both franchises revolve around a sliver of narrative that wasnt substantial enough to support sequels and spin-offs, but here they are regardless, going through the motions one more time, so its not surprising that the characters are flat and uninteresting and that theres a been there, done that feel to the narrative. The films most entertaining aspect came from God-fearing critics who took issue with the the concept of astro-physiology, where one travels to the afterlife after leaving ones own body. Make no mistake, wrote one viewer, the Bible is clear that anyone who even attempts to call upon the dead or consult the afterlife is an abomination.
