4. AVP: Requiem
I love Aliens and I love Predator so naturally I love the Aliens vs Predator books/comics/games. So when they announced that the long gestating Aliens vs Predator film was finally bursting forth, I was delighted. Then I watched AVP and my whole year was ruined. It was a dreadful film which just completely misunderstood everything that makes both franchises great. So when the sequel came along it seemed like a chance to put things right,a proper R rated film with Aliens fighting Predators and ripping to shreds any humans unfortunate to get in their way. Once again though I was disappointed as instead of a proper Aliens vs Predator film we got AVP: Dawson's Creek Edition. Annoying American teenagers running around some small town and getting attacked by a rubbish Predalien that was only cool for about 2 minutes. It wasn't scary, the action was pretty sub-standard and the human characters were far too one-dimensional and stupid to command as much screen time as they did. As bad as the film was I think a good chunk of the disappointment comes from the fact I allowed myself to get excited by this despite what happened with the first film, only to get hurt again. Never again AVP, never again.
