4. Bathilda Bagshot's Hidden Identity - Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1
Horror as a genre loves to take things that are typically seen as sweet and pervert them into something else entirely. This scene from Deathly Hallows Part 1 took that concept and ran with it, as it created a truly traumatic and scary segment that saw an innocent older woman turn into absolute nightmare fuel.
This scene shows Harry and Hermione as they're taken to Bathilda Bagshot's home. Whilst there, they take the chance to explore the household, and things start to become sinister.
After finding plenty of strange clues in the house, Bathilda comes up to Harry and reveals her real identity, as her body slowly crumbles, and Nagini appears. The horrifying snake then attacks Harry and Hermione as they try to escape.
The whole segment is something straight out of the horror playbook, as it slowly builds to a gory and terrifying climax. Seeing the corpse of an older woman being manipulated by a snake is hardly something that feels at home in a young adult adventure, but that's what makes this scene so disturbing.
