2. Mother!
It can be discussed at great length whether Mother! is even a horror film or not, but in the interest of this list, it's a psychological horror film with an ending so disturbing it'll have you thinking about it for days. It's almost a waste of time to attempt explaining the plot of the film, but in short Jennifer Lawrence plays Mother, the wife of a successful poet played by Javier Bardem (known only as Him). Throughout the experimental film, Mother must deal with the increasingly rude and intrusive behaviour of his fans as they disrupt their relationship and home life.
In the final act of the film, the fans steal Mother's newborn baby from her, killing it accidentally before eating the mutilated remains. Distraught, she blows up the house by puncturing an oil tank, destroying everyone and everything except herself and Him. In her last moments she gives Him a crystal from her chest which he uses to repair the house and begin the cycle again.
Not only is this ending rife with disturbing imagery, the biblical connotations and the representations of Mother Nature's abuse is harrowing.
