Life was a surprisingly decent entry into the Sci-fi horror genre, and it boasts one hell of a movie monster. Lovingly named Calvin, it starts off its life-cycle as a small collection of otherworldy muscle that grows as it eats.

After showcasing its abilities in a grisly scene by breaking every bone in a man's hand , Ryan Reynolds' character Rory becomes its first victim.

Calvin clings to Rory's face before forcing himself into his mouth and down his windpipe. We then have to watch as Rory shivers in terror as blood begins pooling out his mouth and eyes. Calvin is eating all his internal organs while he's alive and eventually Rory succumbs to the attack.

What makes this all the more disturbing is the fact they are in zero gravity, and all the red liquid gushing forth merely floats all around the scene. We then have to watch as Rory's lifeless corpse contorts and jolts about the room as Calvin roots around inside him and finishes his dinner.

There's just no imagining the agony of having your insides devoured, and the thought of having something that's never been discovered before scuttling about inside your body makes it ten times worse.
